Overbury Stud’s Ardad filly was among the top lots at Tattersalls December Foal Sale on the first day.
The February foal, the second foal of Stakes-placed sprinter Lastuce, was bought by Blandford Bloodstock for 52,000gns for a unnamed client described as ‘an end-user who asked us to find a Royal Ascot filly’. Breeder Jocelyn Targett, who has boarded his mares at Overbury Stud since 2001 and comes up with Overbury Stud’s marketing too, said, ‘Simon and his team prepped her to the minute: she’s a fine-looking filly, with bags of power and a terrific swing to her, and she’s relished being at the sales and showing off. She’s a better advert for her sire than anything I could ever write.’ Lastuce won seven times in France, including both her starts at two, before running third in the 6f Kilvington Stakes. She was rated 103 by Timeform. She is currently carrying to Cityscape and plans are for her to visit Overbury Stud’s new boy Le Brivido in 2020.
