Schiaparelli enjoyed an excellent weekend with three winners in steeplechases at Doncaster, Bangor and Ffos Las.
Enry Iggins got the ball rolling on Friday when recording his third victory and first over fences under rules for trainer Robert Walford and The Pygmalion Syndicate. On Saturday it was the turn of Tea Time On Mars, who was also notching a third victory for the Gardner family.
Heather Main and Tom Scudamore teamed up at Ffos Las on Sunday for the first win for the Main family’s homebred six-year-old Numitor, who posted a 14-length victory in the novices’ chase.
There were also some very good runs in defeat for two of Schiaparelli’s multiple winners. Whatmore posted a typically game performance to finish second to Yorkhill in the Listed Rehearsal Chase, having also finished runner-up last month in the G3 Sodexho Gold Cup at Ascot. On Sunday in Ireland, Ronald Pump got within half a length of the brilliant, unbeaten mare Honeysuckle when second in the G1 Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse.
