Cityscape’s three-year-old daughter Avenue De France continued the bright start made to her career with a first success in her adopted home country on the opening day of the Santa Anita meet in California.
The winner of her first two starts in France last year for trainer Didier Guillemin, Avenue De France was subsequently sold at the Arqana Arc Sale for €95,000 to Nicolas de Watrigant of Mandore International Agency and transferred to the Californian stable of French ex-pat Leonard Powell. In six starts at Santa Anita and Del Mar this year she has finished third three times before landing the first race on Boxing Day over nine furlongs, pocketing almost $70,000 for her connections in the process.
Avenue De France was bred by Alec Waugh of Jedburgh Stud in partnership with Thierry de la Heronniere from the Invincible Spirit mare Sharja Princess, a daughter of Group 3 winner Khor Sheed who was bought from Godolphin for 4,000gns.
