Perfect Power first announced himself as a major performer for his young sire Ardad when winning the G2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot last year, and Richard Fahey’s stable star will return to Berkshire on Friday in an attempt to land his third Group 1 victory in the Commonwealth Cup.
In the meantime, Ardad looks set to be represented by two runners from his second crop in this year’s Norfolk Stakes. One of those, Clearpoint, is Perfect Power’s stable-mate and runs in the same colours of Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum. Bred by Fiona Denniff, he was an impressive winner on debut over 6f at Ayr.
Also in the line-up is the Michael O’Callaghan-trained Crispy Cat, pictured above just after selling for £105,000 as a yearling. He was another first-time-out winner for Ardad this season and has since been runner-up twice in Listed contests in Ireland and Britain.
There has already been a good result for Ardad this week in the sales ring, with a breeding right to him selling for £85,000 to Charlie Gordon-Watson on behalf of Al Wasmiyah at the Goffs London Sale on the eve of Royal Ascot.
