Golden Horn posted another new stakes winner at York on Thursday when the Juddmonte-bred Haskoy kept her perfect record intact with victory in the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes for Ralph Beckett. The three-year-old filly only made her debut on 29 July, winning by seven lengths at Wolverhampton.
Haskoy became Golden Horn’s second winner of the Galtres Stakes in three runnings, with Gold Wand having landed the 2020 renewal, while Domino Darling was beaten just a nose in the same race last year when second to Forbearance.
On Saturday the consistent Caius Chorister will head to York for the competitive Melrose Handicap. Another three-year-old daughter of Golden Horn, she has won her last five starts for trainer David Menuisier, progressing from a mark of 53 to her current rating of 92.
Now at Overbury Stud and standing as a dual-purpose sire from 2023, Golden Horn continues to enjoy success under both codes, with Byzantine Empire having won twice over fences for Fergal O’Brien to add to this three hurdle victories. From 23 runners over jumps, Golden Horn has now been represented by 13 individual winners, including the G2 Leamington Novices’ Hurdle winner Stag Horn.
