Cityscape three-year-old The Punisher landed Argentina’s biggest race, the G1 Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini at San Isidro for his first success at the highest level.
Held up just off the pace, the colt cruised into contention as the field straightened for home and loomed up to challenge the long-time leader El Musical, that pair drawing clear of the 15-runner field by five lengths, with The Punisher having a three-quarter length advantage at the wire.
Trained by Carlos D Etchechoury, he was bred by Haras El Angel de Venecia and is out of the Orpen mare O.K. Angie.
Cityscape has been notching up the winners of late, with City Escape, Ower Starlight, Hector’s Here and Freescape all having struck since the beginning of December. In Hong Kong, Ka Ying Star, the leading light of Cityscape’s first crop, continues to be a force to be reckoned with and has now amassed earnings just shy of £3 million. The seven-year-old has won seven races and has finished in the first three a further 18 times from 49 lifetime starts.
