Marsh Wren and Jaytee made it a memorable weekend for Schiaparelli’s offspring when recording their seventh and fifth wins respectively at Uttoxeter and Doncaster.
Marsh Wren, now eight, has been a star for Stuart Edmunds’ stable, winning seven of her 12 races, starting in a bumper, then over hurdles and now fences. She also earned some black type when finishing runner-up recently in the Listed Lady Godiva Mares’ Novices’ Chase at Wincanton.
Marsh Wren was bred by the late Renee Robeson, who trained and bred her dam, the winning hurdler Carolina Wren (Sir Harry Lewis) as well as her grand-dam Wren Warbler (Relkino), a six-time winner.
A year older than Marsh Wren, Jaytee has now won three steeplechases and two hurdle races for Ian Williams and his owner-breeder J Tredwell. His latest win, and second of the season, was a seven-and-a-half-length success at Doncaster on Sunday.
Schiaparelli’s fellow Overbury resident Golden Horn has been responsible for black-type earners on the Flat and over jumps in recent days. In Dubai, Godolphin’s Ottoman Fleet was runner-up to stable-mate Measured Time in the G1 Jebel Hatta over nine furlongs. He holds an entry for the G1 Dubai Turf on Dubai World Cup night.
At Cheltenham’s Festival Trials meeting on Saturday, Lady Bamford’s First Street was third behind Lossiemouth in the G2 Unibet Hurdle. The seven-year-old has an entry for the G1 Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and also, prior to that, for Newbury’s Betfair Hurdle on 10 February.
