Ardad’s two-year-old son Solvency made a winning debut at Hamilton on Monday to becomes his sire’s 17th juvenile winner of the campaign.
Striking over five furlongs for trainer Alice Haynes and owner Miss M J Connolly, Solvency is the first foal of the Iffraaj mare and was bred by Rigsdale Stud who sold him as a foal for €15,000. He was later reoffered as a yearling by Castledillon Stud and fetched 32,000gns in last year’s Tattersalls Somerville Sale.
Ardad’s recent two-year-old winners include Stapleford Park, a seven-furlong winner at Chester on 21 September, and Candy, who has won his last two starts at Newbury and Ayr for Richard Spencer and Phil Cunningham.
His three juvenile black-type horses this season include the G2 Coventry Stakes third Columnist, who was another to win on debut and has subsequently been placed in three group contests.
Ardad has four yearlings for offer this week at the Goffs Orby Sale.
