There were big Saturday winners for both Golden Horn and Jack Hobbs when the mares Golden Ace and Jackie Hobbs struck at Wincanton and Ascot respectively.

Golden Ace won her second Grade 2 contest in the pluckiest performance of the afternoon when battling home to take the Kingwell Hurdle on a marvellous day for her trainer Jeremy Scott, who landed a treble at Wincanton. Last season, Golden Ace got the better of the much vaunted Brighterdaysahead in the G2 Ryanair Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and she has now won six of her ten starts.

At Ascot, the Harry Derham-trained five-year-old Jackie Hobbs remained unbeaten in two bumpers and a point-to-point with a facile win in the final race of the day under Harry Cobden. She may now head to the G2 Mares’ Bumper at Aintree.
