Kayf Tara’s stellar season took another turn for the better on Saturday when his offspring took three of the races on the card at Cheltenham.
Nigel Twiston-Davies’s Blaklion got the ball rolling when recording his sixth win in the Harrison James and Hardie Novices’ Chase under Ryan Hatch, taking his career earnings to £77,759.
Five-year-old Solstice Star added to an incredible purple patch to record his fourth successive victory since 4 November, taking the 2m1f Handicap Hurdle by two and half lengths for owner E&G Racing Ltd and trainer Martin Keighley.
The EBF National Hunt Novices’ Hurdle went the way of North Hill Harvey, who was making just his second start for Dan Sketon, having finished runner-up to the talented Barters Hill on debut at Huntingdon in November. The four-year-old gelding is out of the Robellino mare Ellina and was bred by Eric Cantillon.
Kayf Tara is now second in the table of active National Hunt sires in Britain and Ireland with 55 winners for the season and more than £800,000 in progeny earnings.
