Victory for Philip Hobbs-trained pair Kayf Willow and Copper Kay.
10 October 2015
Two Kayf Tara mares returned to the winner’s enclosure at Newton Abbot on Friday, both trained by Philip Hobbs.
The first to salute was Kayf Willow, who was recording her third victory and second over hurdles. In six starts this year, the six-year-old have never been out of the first three.
Making the victory extra special for winning jockey Richard Johnson is that he also bred Kayf Willow from his Puissance mare Mrs Philip.
Johnson and Hobbs combined again to take the bumper with Copper Kay, who was sealing her second win in just three starts. The five-year-old is a daughter of former stable stalwart Presenting Copper and was bred by her owners Aiden Murphy and Alan Peterson.
Kayf Tara has now sired 28 winners from 141 runners this season for a 20% strike-rate and once again heads the list of British-based National Hunt sires.
