Daughters of Golden Horn and Ardad proved popular during the first two days of the Tattersalls December Mares Sale, led by Ardad’s Group 3-winning daughter Eve Lodge, who was bought by Eddie O’Leary for 500,000gns.
The Golden Horn mares Wonderful Times and Needle Lace were both sold from the Sceptre Sessions for 460,000gns and 200,000gns respectively. Tower Of Pisa fetched 80,000gns and Salient Point was sold for 52,000gns, and that quartet was bought by breeders from Australia, India and France. Overall, the six Golden Horn fillies and mares sold over the the last 48 hours returned an average of 137,667gns.
From our own draft of mares, Rioticism was sold for 340,000gns and we wish the best of luck to Ballylinch Stud on their purchase.
We also congratulate longstanding friend of Overbury and client Jocelyn Targett for the sale of True Scarlet for 100,000gns on Monday. The daughter of Mark Believe with a terrific pedigree was picked up by Jocelyn for just $20,000 in America and this year her pedigree has been enhanced by the Listed win and Group 2 second for her half-sister Shuwari.
