Ardad is currently co-leader of the first-season sires’ championship with five winners to his credit. The latest victory for one of his first crop of two-year-olds came at Windsor in Monday when Beautiful Sunshine scored at the second time of asking for George Boughey and Amo Racing.
Beautiful Sunshine was bred at Overbury by Jocelyn Targett from the multiple-winning sprinter Lastuce, a daughter of Orpen. The filly was bought by Robson Aguiar at the Goffs UK Premier Sale for £34,000.
She joins dual winner Vintage Clarets, Vaunted, Arboy Will and Blue Collar Lad as successful representatives of Ardad on the racecourse to date. George Boughey indicated after the race that Royal Ascot could well be on the cards for Beautiful Sunshine, who also holds an entry for Friday’s Listed Marygate Stakes at York. The Royal Meeting is also under consideration for the Richard Fahey-trained Vintage Clarets.
