Golden Horn, whose magnificent three-year-old season included victories in the Derby, Arc, Eclipse and Irish Champion Stakes, has settled well into this new home at Overbury Stud and looked a picture as he paraded for guests on a beautiful autumn morning in the Cotswolds.
The newest addition to the Overbury stallion roster is owned by Jayne McGivern of Dash Grange Stud, who was on hand to admire her ten-year-old stallion, along with a number of breeders, trainers and the 2022 Burghley Horse Trials champion Piggy March.
With some exciting National Hunt runners in the pipeline, Golden Horn’s recent representatives on the Flat include Juddmonte’s exciting three-year-old Listed winner Haskoy and the Group 2 and Group 3 winner Botanik. The latter, trained by Andre Fabre for Godolphin, is now being aimed towards the G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf.
Golden Horn has been reunited with some old friends since his move from Dalham Hall Stud to Overbury and shares the stallion yard with his former Clarehaven stablemate Jack Hobbs, who was runner-up to Golden Horn in the Derby before winning the Irish Derby.
Also at Overbury is Britain’s leading freshman sire of 2021, Ardad, another former John Gosden trainee, who remains very popular with Flat breeders and had a busy covering season.
