Our star lands another title in his homeland and finishes second to King’s Theatre in Britain and Ireland.
At the close of the 2016-17 National Hunt season, Kayf Tara has recorded his best ever season, with 11 winners of 173 races with a whopping winners-to-runners strike-rate of 38% and progeny earnings of £2,428,367.
This gives Kayf Tara his eighth British National Hunt sires’ title and makes him the leading active sire in Britain and Ireland, with his earnings just shy of the five-time champion King’s Theatre, whose tally from his 105 individual winners was £2,701,537.
Kayf Tara’s leading lights through a thrilling season were undoubtedly his Grade 1 winners Thistlecrack, Special Tiara, Tea For Two and Blaklion, but every winners counts and we’d like to thank every breeder who has supported him, not just this year but throughout his entire career.
At the age of 23, he has covered a restricted book this season but continues to have good fertility and to be in great health. Long may that continue.
We’ve also been delighted to see the first few winners for Schiaparelli this season. He will have plenty more waiting in the wings as his first few crops start to mature and head towards their racecourse debuts. He’s a stallion whose foals encouraged breeders to return to him and we very much hope your faith in him will be repaid in the years to come.
There’s certainly plenty to look forward to as the new jumps season gets underway!
