Five sold for an average of €111,400 including second-top lot of €250,000.
During a record-breaking Derby Sale in Fairyhouse, Kayf Tara played a prominent role, ending the two-day auction as the leading sire by average (with more than one sold) and with the second-top lot of the sale.
Five of the six Kayf Tara geldings offered sold for an average of €111,400 with a top price of €250,000. That highlight came early in the sale when lot 22, consigned by Oak Tree Farm, was knocked down to agent Aiden Murphy and his son Olly, who has made such an eye-catching start to his training career. The three-year-old, named Fletch, is a son of the Robin Des Champs mare Oeuvre Vive, a full-sister to the G1 Punchestown Champion Novice Hurdle winner Un Atout.
The same duo had also bid €210,000 for a Kayf Tara gelding at the Goffs Land Rover Sale earlier in the month.
MV Magnier was also on the buyers’ list for Kayf Tara’s offspring at Tattersallls Ireland after he went to €125,000 for Trickledown Stud’s son of Zagaleta.
