Jo Brown and Kayf Tara among the many deserving winners.
The Annual TBA Awards were presented at the Jockey Club Rooms on the eve of the Guineas meeting in Newmarket and it was a highly successful evening for Overbury Stud.
Hot on the heels of being short-listed for a Godolphin Award, our assistant stud manager Jo Brown’s valuable work here for many seasons was recognised when she was presented with the Annual Stud Staff Award, which is generously sponsored by New England Stud.
Kayf Tara has dominated the National Hunt stallion section of the TBA Awards in recent seasons and this year was no exception. He won the Whitbread Silver Salver, which is awarded to the leading British National Hunt stallion, for the eighth time, and a fifth Horse & Hound Cup for the being the leading National Hunt sire by the number of individual chase winners.
We would like to extend our congratulations to all the winners on the night, especially David and Kathleen Holmes, whose contribution to the British National Hunt breeding industry was recognised by the presentation of the Queen Mother’s Silver Salver, and to Bryan Mayoh, who was awarded the Dudgeon Cup on behalf of his broodmare La Perrotine, dam of the outstanding treble Gold Cup winner Sizing John, whom he bred in partnership with Sandra Mayoh.
