It has been a profitable March for fans of Schiaparelli with five winners from his 17 runners throughout the month.

That includes a trio of wins over the weekend, starting with the 12-length victory for Lazy Sunday in the Broxton Gates Handicap Chase at Bangor-on-Dee. Bred by Allan Munnis, the 11-year-old mare is trained and part-owned by Richard Mitford Slade in partnership with Lucy Johnson. She has now won four times over fences and the consistent performer has had nine further top-three finishes from her 26 starts.

Saturday’s run of success continued with a second victory for Ballybreeze at Newbury. The Samuel Drinkwater-trained gelding won the two-mile chase for Kevin Price and was bred by Fiona Walker.

On Sunday, it was the turn of Amatchmadeinheaven to strike in the bumper at Exeter on his debut for his owner, trainer and breeder Amber Jackson-Fennell, who also rode him to victory in his rules debut. The four-year-old also won a point-to-point at Larkhill earlier this month. Congratulations to Amber on an extraordinary all-round victory.

Schiaparelli, whose best progeny include Cheltenham Festival winner Indefatigable and G1 Stayers’ Hurdler runner-up Ronald Pump, along with the black-type-winning mares Marsh Wren and Wyenot, remains one of the best value National Hunt stallions at stud in Britain and is standing for £2,000 this season.
