There will no doubt be plenty of breeders eager to see what Golden Horn’s National Hunt runners achieve as they mature, but in the meantime he continues to be well represented on the Flat, with the latest of his seven black-type winners this year coming in France over the weekend.
Douriann, bred by the Aga Khan from the Exceed And Excel mare Dourdan, triumphed at Clairefontaine in the Listed Prix du Pays d’Auge for trainer Mikel Delzangles. The four-year-old grey was sold by his breeder last November for €95,000 and has now won twice and placed four times in seven starts.
Douriann joins the G2 Queen’s Vase winner Gregory, G2 Derby Italiano winner Goldenas, and Group 3 victric Haskoy on the list of ten horses by Golden Horn to have earned black type this year.
