Ardad was represented by 15 yearlings at the Tattersalls Somerville Sale on Tuesday, with 13 sold for an average of 27,615gns.
Leading the pack was the full-sister to Ardad’s Great. She was sold as a foal for 20,000gns to Con Marnane and returned to Tattersalls to make a tidy profit after Kevin Ross had the final bid at 72,000gns.
Another filly, out of Badweia and offered by Whatton Manor Stud, sold for 48,000gns to French agent Laurent Benoit of Broadhurst Agency, while Amo Racing picked up Hazelwood Bloodstock’s Ardad colt out of Davinci Dawn for 45,000gns. Brownsbarn Thoroughbreds and Moore’s Racing went to 42,000gns for the filly out of Dora’s Sister from Jamie Went.
Trainers Richard Spencer and Tim Easterby are among those with an Ardad joining their yard from the Somerville Sale, while breeze-up consigors Johnny Collins, Con Marnane and Shanaville Stables are among those in the sector to have continued their support for the stallion.
There will be plenty of opportunities to buy an Ardad yearling in the coming weeks, with 18 by him catalogued for the Tattersalls October Sale, two at Goffs Orby and six at the Tattersalls Ireland September Sale. This crop of yearlings was conceived from a stud fee of £4,000.
