Another two winners in the past week have taken Ardad’s tally of first-crop scorers to 16, with an impressive strike-rate of 40%.
St Albans Bloodstock’s homebred Eidikos, a three-parts sister to Group 3 winner Sporting Chance, made a hugely promising start for her young trainer Ed Bethell when scoring on debut at Beverley despite not everything going her way in running.
Three days later Adnaan maintained the fine record on Newmarket’s July Course of his trainer Patrick Owens when winning over six furlongs, having finished fifth, beaten just over a length behind Gubbass in the Weatherbys Super Sprint. Out of the Cape Cross mare News Desk, he was bred by the late Michael Broughton.
Ardad’s success continued in the sale ring in France on Monday when his sole yearling in the Arqana August Sale sold for €70,000 to Marco Bozzi. The half-sister to Listed winner Maroubra was bred and consigned by Gwen Monneraye and Lucie Lamotte of La Motteraye Consignment.
